Green Pieces January 8, 2007

Here’s a short video (not sure if it is a trailer for a longer movie, or if is supposed to be stand-alone) regarding some of the darker aspects of the Green movement. I’ve been a big supporter of Green philosophies for years now. But I’m having an increasingly difficult time supporting the movements themselves. The extremists, who seem to be nothing more than Luddites driving Beemers (how’s that for a contradiction in terms!), are in complete control of all of the major players–The Sierra Club, Greenpeace, etc. It’s gotten to the point that I pretty much ignore the message because I can’t stand the messengers. Which is a shame, because there are a lot of wrongs that need to be addressed environmentally.

Will saner heads prevail? I hope so. There is great beauty on this planet. And many people who want to appreciate it. It seems we can strike a balance between extreme environmental exploitation and extreme environmentalism. A place where sustainability really happens.  That’s why I’m interested in seeing the Electronic Journal of Sustainable Development stay independent and objective, and actually provide some answers that we can use.
