Incredible Meteor Swarm January 4, 2007

Here’s video of a meteor swarm over Colorado, I guess this morning. Truly spectacular. There’s even video (don’t have the link now) that was a live shot from outside a news studio. They did a live cut to the camera feed while a reporter (traffic?) was watching it.

Amazing stuff. Although I can’t help but think of the video capturing the disintegration of the Columbia back in ’03. Very similar, for obvious reasons.

Update: Here’s additional footage. “AirTracker 7” out of Denver. It has now been confirmed to be a Russian rocket re-entering the atmosphere.  I guess the similarity to Columbia was closer even than I imagined.
