Leopard Installed October 28, 2007

Okay. I installed Leopard yesterday morning. It took a couple of steps, as the first attempt bombed out because the disk read at the beginning failed. Had to reboot and try again. Oh, well.
Installation went pretty flawlessly. It took a while, though. Some people have been reporting around 45 minutes. I think it was more like an hour-and-a-half for me. Everything seemed to go well. I did have to do some artificial trimming of what was being installed, because the process claimed to need more disk space than I had. Got it to work, though. Some things I’ve noticed in the day+ that I’ve been using it:- In Safari, the mouse briefly turns into a hand when hovering over a hyperlink, then changes immediately back to a pointer.
- More interestingly, and much worse–if the mouse is hovering over a CSS dynamic menu, the menu briefly appears, and then disappears. This makes the menu completely unusable. Definitely a nasty bug, given the prevalence of these types of menus. I’m going to see if a bug report has been filed.
- I can’t install the dev tools. I really wanted to check out the new Xcode. I’ve heard lots of good things about it, especially the new interface designer. I’m finally going to have some time to explore developing for OS X. Nurts. I’m going to take the disk back to see if this is related to the disk failure reported above.
